Jointly organised by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG), the Education Bureau (EDB), and the Hong Kong Science Museum (HKScM), the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition (HKSSPC) 2024 held its Final Judging and Award Presentation Ceremony on 4 August 2024. Our school garnered the championship in the Senior Division (Invention). The awardees are: S.4C Melody Ng, S.4C Ginny Wong, S.4C Sigmund Leung, S.4D Daniel Chan, and S.4D Jeremy Wong.

The invention project is known as “ElderDefender,” which was inspired by the fact that the elderly easily fall victim to phone scams. The installation can transform audio conversations into text in real time and proofread them using installed keywords. If a scam is detected during the process, a visual alert will be displayed on the installation while simultaneously sending WhatsApp messages and emails to warn the elderly’s family, helping to prevent the elderly from being scammed. Students were also interviewed by various media outlets and radio stations during the summer holidays.
