Our school proudly launched the inaugural English-Speaking Wednesday on 2 October. The yearly theme is ‘pro’, which underscores the importance of being proactive in our approach to learning English in order to become proficient and professional.

The morning assembly was a lively celebration of our students’ talents. Sam Tai from 2D captivated everyone with his extraordinary skill in solving a Rubik’s Cube, demonstrating how consistent practice and determination leads to mastery. Marco Wu from 6D shared his inspiring journey of self-teaching himself to play the bass guitar, showcasing the power of passion and perseverance. Melody Ng from 5C, the Head English Ambassador, emphasised the importance of setting personalised goals tailored to individual abilities, reinforcing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to improving English proficiency. 

The day continued with a variety of activities, including busking, engaging booths during lunchtime, ‘Chat CDG’, along with fruitful discussion practices of S.5 and S.6 students. We look forward to an exciting year ahead with activities like Speakers’ Corners and Book Sharing sessions, ensuring Carmelians cultivate a keen interest in English.
