STEAM Day 23/24

2024-05-14 May, 2024

The STEAM Day was successfully held on May 14. Various STEAM-related activities and competitions were held that day and the performance of students was remarkable, demonstrating their scientific knowledge, innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.

S.1 students participated in the robotics workshop and competition, where they learnt about programming and robotics operation, followed by an inter-class VEX Robotics Competition, which demonstrated their teamwork and innovative thinking.

S.2 students participated in the Rocket Car Competition, in which they used their interdisciplinary knowledge and 3D printing to design their own rocket cars in science lessons. In addition, all S.2 students participated in the machine-learning workshop to explore artificial intelligence (AI), where they learnt to use a large amount of data to train models to make accurate predictions.

S.3 students presented their STEAM project, and this year's work was innovative and practical. Students applied programming, AI, voice and image recognition, Scratch and 3D printing to create prototypes to solve real-life problems. S.3 students presented their ideas and products to demonstrate their learning outcomes to other students.

During the assembly, two professional engineers from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), Ir Kelvin Tang and Ir Peter Chow, introduced the different professional disciplines of engineering and the recent development in Hong Kong, such as the hydrogen fuel, virtual reality (VR) and automated vehicles, which are creating a brighter future for society.
