English Ambassador Leadership Training Camp 2015-16

The English Ambassadors 3-day-and-2-night Leadership Training Camp was held in Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village from 15th – 17th January, 2016. Everyone was contented and had great fun in the camp!

In the first afternoon, we played lots of ice-breaking games including Mirror Image, Acting, Sculpture Pretending and so on. We got to know each other better as well as built closer relationships with one another during those games.

After dinner, we participated in a detective drama workshop. During the workshop, we had to act as detectives and solve a case of missing persons. Ultimately, we found that they were kidnapped by aliens who wanted to know why people could be happy when they were eating. In order to rescue the people, each group had to cook one dish and write a poem or song to explain why eating delicious food could make us happy. The whole night was full of laughter and fun.

In the morning of the second day, we had “EA Run Run Run!”. During the activity, we had to gain marks by finishing the games in each checkpoint. In spite of the rainy weather, everyone enjoyed the games and had a great fun. One of the games, “Bigger and Better”, challenged us to use a toothpick to exchange for valuables from strangers. In the process, our confidence was boosted to the full. Dare to try?

In the afternoon, we attended a workshop hosted by our School Manager, Mr. Chu Fun Wing. In the workshop we learned what a team is as well as what a good leader is. Mr. Chu played many interesting games with us. In one of the games one person stood in the center while the others stood around that person. People in the circle would push the person in the center who needed to relax and trust his teammates wholeheartedly that they would not let him fall. This meaningful game really told us the importance of trust.

That night we all partook in a variety show including singing, dancing, magic, a silent drama, and so on. All the particpants performed well since they worked hard on the preparation. At the end of the variety show we had a prize presentation for the Best Cooperation, Most Creative Performance and Most Courageous Awards, as well as the winners of EA Run Run Run.

On the last day, we had some reflection. We deeply thought about our roles and duties in the EA Team, the reasons why we joined the EA Team and what it means to be a team.

After this memorable camp, we understand our responsibilities and roles in the English Ambassador Team better. We strongly believe that we can create a better English environment for CDGFSS in the future.

Travel Experience Share

Best Team Award

Travel Experience Share (TES) is an educational project organised by Wai Yin Association to provide students with an opportunity to travel overseas to experience a different culture and share their adventures through daily blogging. 6E Ng Wing, 6D Chan Yim Kwai, and 6D Pang To King have swept three of the five awards in the TES Grand Final Prize Presentation, including the Best Team, Creative Blog and Best Photo.

After returning from Germany in August, they attended an interview with the panel judges and gave a final presentation on their travel experience. The judges appreciated the team’s fulfillment of the targets and the creative blog sharing their exciting journey with their fellow schoolmates and the community.

Their award-winning photos were displayed in the TES exhibition from 4th to 15th September at Festival Walk.

Upon winning several prizes, the team was also interviewed by two local newspapers, The Standard and Sky Post. Below is the media coverage in Sky Post.http://www.skypost.hk
